Inspiration of the day: The Elders

http://www.theelders.org
The Elders are an independent group of eminentglobal leaders, brought together by Nelson Mandela, who offer their collective influence and experience to support peace building, help address major causes of human suffering and promote the shared interests of humanity.

"We live in the world where there are many conflicts... Each and every one of us should ask ourselves, WHAT CAN I DO? We all have a responsibility. I hope that The Elders will take a lead in asking the questions WHAT CAN WE DO TO MOVE THE SITUATION FORWARD?...  We may succeed sometimes, and we may fail sometimes, but the challenge is not only for us. I'm sure if we all work together and we all take the attitude in what can we do how can we organize ourselves to do it, we can make a difference in this world of ours. We need to work together." - Kofi Annan
"The collected knowledge and experience that we bring is unique, there are 12 of us, and secondly the geographically is unique, and the fact that we are working together as free spirits is unique. There has never been anything like it in the world." - Jimmy Carter

"Despite all the problems in the world, human beings are made for goodness. The ones who ought to be held in high regard are not the ones who are militarily powerful, nor even economically prosperous. They are the ones who have a commitment to try and make the world a better place. We The Elders will endeavour to support those people and do our best for humanity." Desmond Tutu; Chairman of The Elders

"The Elders can speak freely and boldly, working both publicly and behind the scenes. They will reach out to those who most need their help. They will support courage where there is fear, foster agreement where there is conflict and inspire hope where there is despair." Nelson Mandela
